We have been privileged to work on some exciting projects over the years, each providing unique challenges and amazing results. Our case studies give you a glimpse into our design and production process. We hope they speak for themselves.

London 2012 Olympic Mania

Lakeland, Westfield, Stratford City

Overview

A giant, fully working quintessential English teapot pouring tea

No access for offsite support allowed during Olympics

Lakeland staff maintenance only for 4 months

3 week lead time for installation

Using cutting-edge polystyrene technology our team successfully designed, prototyped and manufactured a fully operation model within 3 weeks. The installation at the Lakeland store in Westfield, Stratford City was executed overnight to comply with the ‘Olympic lockdown exclusion zone’ timeframe.

The model was required to run continuously for 4 months without servicing and the entire unit had to be completely water-tight with the top-up access exclusively for shop staff. We used large format display fabric for the backdrop and incorporated a hoist to enable banner updates for future promotions.

This project was not only immensely enjoyable and fulfilling, but it also received the prestigious award for the ‘Best Window in the Shopping Centre’ during the Olympics.

Jane Austen Museum

Bath
Overview

Unusual and natural materials for exhibiting artworks

Sympathetic materials to mirror parchment and aged images

Meet an initial starter budget and fixed opening date

An unusual beginning led to an exciting sequence of events. One 4 hour meeting with Derek Nice in a barn in Somerset led to the birth of the ‘Jane Austen Centre’ in Bath. The concepts had been devised but Derek could not find the materials to bring his dreams to life.

Using photographic printing, inkjet on paper to create parchments, garden trellis and traditionally wrapped MDF panels the 3D effects he wished for started to emerge. The museum had a limited budget and a tight production lead time but the doors were opened only 9 weeks after the first meeting.

R J Mitchell Wind Tunnel

University of Southampton
Overview

Longevity of display with south facing windows

Suitability of materials for local heat source

Quality of print

Restricted budget

The University of Southampton project was an exciting opportunity to create a static display celebrating R J Mitchell. The display demanded a careful balance of textures and levels, achieved using dibond with wrapped print and split battens.

To withstand the south-facing position and large daily temperature changes we employed permanent self-adhesive vinyl on a primed and sealed wall, ensuring no shrinkage over time. Our choice of materials prioritised light-fastness and heat resistance. With a meticulous 2 day installation period we ensured proper bonding and drying for a lasting result.

Royal Institute of Architects

(RIBA)
Overview

No mechanical fixings allowed in venue

Restricted residency of the building for installation and removal

Tight lead-time

Tasked to dress the RIBA venue in less than 4 hours without using any mechanical fixings for conference and display purposes was a challenge. Our team took on the task with determination and creativity, working wonders in 14 days.

The limited access to the building required us to streamline all free-standing structures and devise unconventional methods to reach new heights. Despite the challenges, our hard work paid off, and David Bellini Display Solutions Ltd was proud to offer production, installation, and advisory services to the ‘Royal Institute of Architects’. It was a true testament to our team’s resourcefulness and dedication.

'Great War' Museum

St Helier
Overview

Limited budget available

Re-useability of hardware

Quality and variety of media to be included

Bespoke acrylic displays

The Twelve Voices of the ‘Great War’ exhibition brought to life the vision of Richard and Martyn through a meticulously planned and executed temporary display. Over 10 weeks, the team skilfully integrated powerful fabric imagery, detailed floor graphics and custom acrylic display units to capture the poignant atmosphere of the era.

The use of aluminium structures facilitated the creation of distinct areas within the exhibition space. This allowed for a compelling portrayal of the war’s timeline and the showcasing of individual stories alongside floating artefacts and memorabilia.

The exhibition’s stunning colours evoked the spirit of ‘Flanders’ fields, while the floor itself became a narrative canvas. The result was a profoundly moving and memorable experience that paid tribute to the individuals and their unique stories from the ‘Great War.’

'Diana' Exhibit

Jersey Maritime Museum
Overview

Making the space work around ‘Diana’

Longevity of the graphics and materials

Authenticity of the chosen fixtures and fittings

Working to a very tight deadline

Diana, a small boat with a huge story to tell has found her place in history at the Jersey Maritime Museum through a permanent display created by David Bellini Display Solutions. What started as an old workshop was transformed in 4 weeks thanks to a detailed survey and the collaborative effort of island-based carpenters and suppliers.

Solid substrate graphics, fabrics, floor graphics and digital projection were ingeniously used to bring the harbour scene to life. The final touches of old chains and harbourside bollards ensured the majestic Diana sat gracefully in the water. This project stands as a testament to the expertise and dedication of everyone involved.

Six Nations 2016

Fullers Brewery
Overview

Creativity and the ‘wow factor’

Production to fit very tight lead-time

Suitability for external use and weathering

“Experience the wonder of polystyrene sculptures!”

The ‘Six Nations’ event called for a ’96 sheet’ billboard poster that would truly captivate the public. A 2.4 metre sculptured polystyrene creation became the game-changer.

With an internal metal support structure and careful manoeuvering using a cherry picker over 8 hours the vision became a reality. The ball itself was expertly encapsulated in GRP and painted to ensure it could withstand the unforgiving English winter weather.

Whiskey Bar, Infosecurity Europe 2024

Menlo Security & J D Marketing
Overview

Matching a global theme

Improve on the 2023 stand and turn up the wow factor

Authenticity of finished stand

Quality of fixtures

Maximise the ROI

Can you beat the ‘Tiki Bar’ stand from 2023? I think a ‘Kingsman theme or bar, I will leave it in your capable hands David, but don’t forget brand and we need the wow factor’.

We chose the Linx modular aluminium system on this occasion ahead of a BeMatrix solution in order to allow us complete freedom on the design. With the vast range of profiles and bespoke cutting of the framework we were able to design the features to the exact specifications required.

These along with the bespoke fittings brought the blueprint to life.

Thank goodness for Etsy, Ebay and our reliable and diverse chain of
suppliers. With a little tweaking of budgets the results spoke for themselves!

A massive thank you Dave.

Great design, great result and great fun! Wow! A great stand!

We have never had a response like this from the attendees, exhibitors and organisers.

Congratulations and I can’t wait to see the next creation!
